A perfect pre-teen bedroom.
Hello, and welcome! I am so glad you’re here.
This is my very first blog post entry.. ever. I feel that should be documented. In August, my third child (Parker) started pre-k, and now I only have my tiny little Hallie home with me. She is two. I always joke as a mom of four kids, one kid feels like no kid haha. With that said, I have stumbled upon quite a bit more free time than I am used to.
I have always loved home decor, and lately I find myself re-vamping our home. This new era I’ve entered into has brought me a lot of happiness and I can confidently say this is my favorite hobby. We custom built our home almost 8 years ago. While we were building, I also worked for a production home builder so I was able to put my eye on exactly what I liked- and also what I didn’t like.
I found myself selecting colors and designs in my home that a lot of people scratched their heads at- only to find that those selections were coming into style several years down the road. For instance: satin brass hardware and faucets, wallpaper, mixing metals, and color drenching rooms.
In 2017 those things weren’t as popular as they are now, but thankfully I already made the decision to put those things in my home. People thought I was crazy or that it wouldn’t look good together- but that is kinda the point IMO. As a creator, you put things together that make sense in your brain and your vision, but not always everyone else understands the vision… until they see it finished.
Walk with me as I perfectly curate spaces in my home. If you were to ask me what my home design and decor goals are, I would tell you it is to walk into a room and feel like the room serves you, aesthetically and functionally, beaming with intentionality and “homey-ness” if that is even a word. LOL
My current (well one of my current) projects is transforming my Stevie girls room into a perfect pre-teen bedroom. Stevie will be nine in November and for her birthday she has asked for a vanity and room refresh.
I have been loving mixing patterns and making spaces feel cozy, which is exactly what is in the works here. While the bedding, curtains, and vanity are yet to come- I have successfully installed wallpaper in her whole room. This is the biggest wallpaper project I have taken on- I had a professional installer do our bathrooms when we moved in.
Over the next few months I plan to refresh bedding and curtains, install a new light fixture, add some decor to the walls, style her dresser, and of course her vanity will be installed. My husband is a finish trim carpenter by trade. He made her bed, her vanity is mostly built (sitting in our garage), and he also made her dresser several years ago (the drawers need to be adjusted after some heavy wear and tear).
When I’m putting together a space, I tend to find an item that I’m obsessed with. Like, can’t stop thinking about have to buy it NOW. Whether it be a pillow, bedding, artwork or in this case- wallpaper. That’s when I know I have the inspiration for the room and I build brick by brick off of that.
I’m gonna link the wallpaper for you guys here. I have tried several different peel and stick brands and this one was very easy to install, and I think it hid the texture on our wall well. The price is also AMAZING. You can’t beat it really.
Hope you love as much as I do. As an Enniagram 7, we are here to have fun.
XOXO
Steph
